Minutes from the Minister:
I hope you all have your Christmas shopping done by now. I don’t know about you but I would hate to be in or near the shops today. In the hustle and bustle today though don’t forget that it is still Advent Four. It is easy to forget this year, as Advent 4 is swallowed up in Christmas Eve.
We focus on Mary and her willingness to say yes to God. Think about that for a second, by our best estimates we think Mary would have been early or mid-teens, say 14 or 15 years old. She has said yes to God for a task that is full of potential difficulty for her, unwed and pregnant. Yes, she was engaged but can you imagine how long that would last the moment Joseph finds out she’s pregnant. It took the intervention of an Angel to save the relationship. And yet she said YES.
Truly a courageous woman of extraordinary faith. So as you are getting ready today for Christmas I would ask that you spend a moment to think on Mary’s faith and courage. Give thanks for her obedience to God and pray that we too may have that same faith, obedience and courage.
Could I take this opportunity, on behalf of all the ministry team here at Lismore Anglican Parish to wish you a very happy and holy Christmas. May you and your family be filled with the blessing of peace and joy that comes through the gift of the Christ Child.
MERRY
CHRISTMAS
TO ALL!!
Rev Christian
