Message from your Minister

Exciting News

This past week we got some very exciting news. We have been approved to run a Mainly Music Program. I’m hopeful that you all remember me talking about it earlier in the year. Then this Thursday we received the introduction pack for us to start the work of training the team, gathering resources and getting everything in place to begin.
We would love to start at the beginning of term 4 but there is a bit of work between now and then and not a lot of time. I want to call a meeting of those who volunteered to be a part of the team for this Tuesday at 9.30 am. We will meet in the office at Woodlark Street.
More than just those who volunteered to help run Mainly Music, and anyone who volunteered through our stewardship of talents forms last week, there is a need for a few “behind the scenes helpers”.
One area we need is for those who can pray for the ministry and for the families who will come along. It would be great if you are there on Tuesday to get a sense of what you will be praying for. Can you be a pray-er for the Mainly Music?
Also there is a need for those who can supply a homemade morning tea for the parents. One of the guiding principles of Mainly Music is the love and generosity of the church expressed to the families who come along. Just one small expression of that is the morning tea we provide for those parents who come along. Our listening ear, friendly smile and our caring attitudes will express that as well, just don’t discount the power of a good morning tea to say “You are loved and cared for.” Can be someone who is willing to be part of a team that would provide morning tea, a cake or biscuits, homemade, for Mainly Music?
There is also a need for people to help gather resources, some of which need to be made. Can you help gather resources?
It would be fantastic to see anyone who wants to support this great new ministry in the parish this Tuesday 9.30 am in the Parish Office. I am absolutely certain that we can offer a great caring ministry to the families of Lismore through Mainly Music and that there are many with gifts that can be offered for this ministry. Come along on Tuesday to find out how you can help.
Rev Christian

Church News
Marriage Equality Postal Survey: Over the coming weeks we are going to be bombarded with advertising and information, both true and inaccurate. I want to propose that our morning tea after church become a place of respite from all the advertising and discussion. There are people within our church family who hold passionate opinions on both sides of the argument. Whilst it is an important discussion for us to have I would advise that we have that discussion at other times. I am more than open to those who want to talk about the issue with me, just not after worship. Let us all take a break from the discussion for just a brief time each week. Rev Christian Ford.
