Message from your Minister
Margaret has put a sign up in the Parish Office. It has the Crown of England and the words Keep Calm We are Moving! It’s there as a reminder to all that come into the office that we have a big job ahead of us but don’t get overly stressed out by the move.
I must say those words are good for us all to hear. Yes, we have found a new home for the parish office. It is Suite 1, 76 Woodlark Street, the stairs to the entrance is just next to Bubbling Billy Café.
This coming Thursday we have removalists coming in to help move the big items, like fridge, photocopier, book cases, desks, tables and chairs. Because of all this the Parish office is going to be closed on Friday this week. Also, the pew bulletin will be printed early this week, so if you need anything in the pew bulletin get in early this week.
In the coming weeks, we also need to get word out about our new location to those who we help with food parcels. Ideally for about a week we would have someone stationed in the old parish office from 9 until 1 to redirect people to our new location. It would also be great for you to come and check out the new office, but if you could hold off for a few weeks so we can get settled in, that would be fantastic.
On the 16th of July, we are planning a liturgy to farewell the old office and to celebrate the move to the new and to bless the new office. It will be in the afternoon so pencil that in your diary. I will let you know the exact time next week as we are trying to get Bishop Sarah to be here for the liturgy and we need to co-ordinate with her diary.
Can I say that this is a huge job that has to be accomplished by the clergy, Margaret and the wardens and all the volunteers that help out in the office. The parish has been using the office for some time now and we have accumulated a lot of documents and office equipment and just a lot of “stuff” sorting it all out, moving it and settling into a new space is not easy. All of this needs to happen while we still plan and conduct worship, attend to pastoral needs and any emergencies that pop up along the way. There may be things that are missed in the next few weeks, not because we don’t care but simply because there is a lot to do and we have limited resources.
What can you do to help? First you can pray. I think it is safe to say that we are very appreciative of your prayers. Second could you come along to help out with some of the move. As I said it would be great to have someone stationed at the old office for a week to direct those who come in need to the new office. Third could we all show a little patience with the things that might get dropped or forgotten in the move. Remind us gently and we will get there eventually.
Overall, this is an exciting time for the parish. It is the end of an era but also the beginning of a new one. Let us journey together into God’s future and see what great things we can accomplish with God in God’s future.
