A choral evensong will be sung at St Mary’s Ballina, 28 October, 6.00pm. Evensong remains a main stay in devotional worship in many Christian communities throughout the world. It affords a time for personal reflection, prayers and praise offered to God for all the blessings of this life and a peaceful observance of the awesomeness and beauty of His creation. The text of this Office, as found in the Book of Common Prayer of 1662 has inspired countless musicians to compose music specifically for this Office, and some of the world’s greatest choral composers have been swayed by the language and intent of the texts themselves. All are welcome.

A combined choir including some members of St Andrew’s choir, Lismore, and Spiritsong will be combining to perform Dvorak’s Mass in D in early December. This is a work full of beautiful lyricism and harmony, not unlike the Slavonic Dances with their folk influences. The combined choir will also be joined by members of Murwillumbah Philharmonic. This programme will be presented in All Saints, Murwillumbah 9 December, and St Mary’s, Ballina 16 December, both at 2.00pm. All welcome

As has been happening in Lismore for 30 + years, and in the best tradition of King’s College,Cambridge, St Andrew’s Choir will join with St Carthage’s Choir in performances of Nine Lessons and Carols. This year in Lismore it is the turn of St Andrew’s to host the event. The programme, has again put together by choir director/organist, Warren Whitney. All are welcome to this non-denominational celebration.
