Parish Council passed a motion at its July meeting to investigate the viability of installing solar power panels on the north-facing roof of the Parish Hall of St Andrew’s Lismore.
This proposal was subsequently passed after figures showed the wisdom of such an investment.
We were able to secure the government rebate of 60 cents per kilowatt in the final days of the scheme’s life. This rebate is guaranteed till 2016.
Current costings indicate that the panels would generate sufficient power to be fed back to the grid to cover the panels plus installation costs within 5-6 years with the guaranteed rebate.
The panels have been installed on the Parish Hall roof during this week (8th – 12th November) by Nickel Energy, and will be connected to the grid over the next few days.
