July 2011

What is happening at the Anglican Church of St.Matthew’s Dunoon

July 13th 2011 will mark our one hundredth birthday.  It will be one hundred years since the consecration of the original church (the one that blew down in 1954).  On Sunday 21st August we are proposing to have a big birthday party.  The Bishop is coming from Grafton and he will conduct a Service of Thanksgiving at 2.30pm (there will be no Sunday Morning Service that week) followed by afternoon tea in the Under-croft. Anyone and everyone who would like to come along would be most welcome!  Mark the date on your calendar!!

Because that date is so close to ‘Come to Church’ Sunday, which will be held nationally on 11th September this year, we have decided to combine the two occasions.

Back to Church Sunday (or ‘Come to Church Sunday as we have decided to call it in the Lismore Parish) began in one Anglican diocese in the United Kingdom in 2005 and from there the concept just spread and spread and spread….Since then it has become the single largest local – church invitational initiative in the world.  Many other Churches and denominations are now taking the concept on board and it is growing to an astronomical size.  Why not be part of the move to come to Church?

Normal Services are every Sunday at 9.30am.  Love to see you there!
