A life worthy of the Gospel

A life worthy of the Gospel

Welcome to Church! If you’re visiting us today we trust that you enjoy your time with us, as we worship our Lord together.

Today’s message is the second in a series on the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Philippians, and in particular we consider what it means to live a life that’s worthy of the Gospel.

Significantly in today’s reading we’ll consider Christian hardship, the big picture view of life and death, and the importance of standing and striving for the gospel.

Paul is a clear example of what it means to suffer for the Gospel having endured much since becoming a Christ follower. However, Paul’s is also and example of how we need to keep perspective on life. What matters most is that the Gospel of Christ is proclaimed, even if sometimes people proclaim the Gospel from wrong motives!

In Christ our future is secure, and indeed Paul can say with confidence “For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain.” What a clear perspective on what life (and eternal life) is about. We are blessed as we live for Christ now, and we are even more blessed to live with Christ forever!

Like Paul may we all “stand firm in one spirit, striving side by side with one mind for the faith of the gospel”, since we have such a wonderful saviour!
